Club Mission

– To bring MRU students within the LGBTQIA2S+ community together as a means of mutual support for one another. In doing so, we will act as a resource to direct students to supports on and off campus, provide peer support with one another, and create a safe gathering space.

– To foster healthy friendships within the campus community and highlight queer visibility on campus.

Club Description

– Regular Meetings: At a minimum, there will be one regularly scheduled meeting a month, which will be held in a space on campus. Ideally, there will be regularly scheduled meetings every week, whether on campus or conducted through a Google Meet. These meetings are opportunities for members to socialize, develop friendships, offer mutual support and engage in activities or do whatever the members deem beneficial to the club. These meetings and their occurrence are up to the general membership base and do not have mandatory attendance.
– On-Campus Events: Last year, SAGA hosted many events, and collaborated with fellow clubs such as the Anthropology Club, to put on activities for students on campus, including Halloween Parties, Gender-Affirming Makeup Lessons, and Holiday Movie Nights. SAGA will continue to host and invite other clubs to collaborate in the 2025-2026 academic year to create fun, welcoming events on campus.
– Off-Campus Events: SAGA has received several offers from off-campus establishments, such as Modern Love, to host events at their locations. SAGA hopes to branch out in the 2025-2026 academic year and do more off-campus events for students.
