Club Mission
The African and Caribbean Cultural Student Society (AFCSS) exists to foster an inclusive and welcoming community that celebrates the diverse cultures, histories, and experiences of African and Caribbean students and allies at Mount Royal University. Our mission is to promote cultural awareness, encourage meaningful connections, support student success, and create opportunities for leadership, professional development, and community engagement. Through educational, cultural, and social initiatives, AFCSS strives to cultivate a sense of belonging while celebrating the richness and diversity of African and Caribbean heritage across campus.
Club Description
AFCSS operates through a dedicated executive team that plans and delivers cultural, educational, professional, and social programming throughout the academic year. The club collaborates with students, campus departments, community organizations, and local businesses to create engaging experiences that foster connection and celebrate African and Caribbean cultures. Our initiatives include cultural showcases, networking events, workshops, panel discussions, game nights, social gatherings, Black History Month programming, community markets, volunteer opportunities, and collaborative events with other student organizations. Through these activities, AFCSS aims to build an inclusive campus community, empower student leaders, encourage cross-cultural understanding, and provide meaningful opportunities for students to connect, learn, and grow.
